Founded by Mike Jatania and Paul Raphaël, Auréa draws on four decades of experience investing in over 40 global beauty and personal-care brands and executing complex M&A transactions, IPO’s, financings and restructurings.


Auréa was founded to harness their complementary experience and unparalleled networks within industry and finance to pursue the compelling opportunity presented by long-term, resilient trends in beauty, wellness, and longevity.


Auréa is focused on brands that are embracing new trends in science-backed products, natural and clean ingredients. These brands benefit from secular growth, high margins and defensive characteristics demonstrated by resilience in the face of past market downturns.


Based in London and New York, we cover the world’s largest consumer markets. We bring our extensive networks to our portfolio companies offering tangible value creation capabilities such as digital strategy and omni-channel scaling, AI-enabled customer trend and optimisation analytics, building a world-class management team, and deep expertise in manufacturing, supply chain and logistics.

Mike Jatania

Mike entered the family owned Lornamead business in 1984 performing a number of roles in a variety of countries before becoming Chief Executive of the group in 1990. Mike shaped Lornamead into one of the most successful brand owners across markets and categories by making over 35 acquisitions of well-known brands from companies such as Unilever, Sara Lee, Proctor and Gamble, Wella AG and Henkel.


Under Mike’s leadership, Lornamead grew into an international company, recognised for its business success in acquiring and investing in heritage Beauty & Personal care brands. The company built up a portfolio of over 30 brands selling in over 50 countries, including Yardley London fragrance and bath luxuries, Finesse hair care and Lypsyl lip balm.


The company was sold in 2013 to four strategic buyers including a major Chinese multinational, a large Indian corporate and a US company which provided a successful strategic exit for the family. Mike Jatania holds a Degree in Accounting from South Bank University.

Paul Raphael

Paul is an established investment professional with extensive M&A and financing experience. He was Executive Vice Chairman at UBS from 2018 to 2021. He joined UBS in 2010 initially as Head of Global Emerging Markets and later served as UBS’ Head of Wealth Management for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America where he managed $450 billion of client assets and over 3,000 employees across four continents.

Before joining UBS in 2010, he spent six years at Credit Suisse, including three years in Hong Kong as Head of Investment Banking for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this, Paul spent 10 years with Merrill Lynch in London and Paris and eight years at Salomon Brothers in New York in various M&A and capital markets roles.

 

Paul is a member of the advisory board of LIFE where he was founding chairman and a member of the Special Advisory Council of International Crisis Group. He has a degree in economics from the University of Maryland and an MSC in management from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Andrew Vagenas

Andrew is the founder and former CEO of Packable, he has spent the last 14 years navigating and breaking barriers in the e-commerce world. As the company grew, so did his knowledge and understanding of marketplace and digital commerce. Andrew’s expertise in the industry paved the way for relationships with over 120 brands in the Health, Beauty, and Personal Care space.

At Packable, Andrew managed day to day operations (800+ employees) focused on data and technology, digital go-to-market strategies, and logistics & distribution. Prior to that, Andrew owned and operated a bricks and mortar pharmacy in New York.

 

Before this, he worked at Endo Pharmaceuticals focused on clinical trials for pain medication. Andrew holds a degree in Toxicology/Pharmacology from St. John’s University.

Mounir Naffi

Mounir led the Middle East and Africa business at UBS wealth management in London between 2018 and 2022, and covered family offices and owners of private businesses. He originally joined UBS in 2013 as an investment advisor, providing comprehensive advice including wealth transitions across generations, business exits and financial investments.

He started his career in securitization in 2004 and was involved in the structuring, syndicating and trading of high profile loan transactions aimed at institutional clients across Europe, Middle East and Asia. He held these roles at major banks such as Citi and BNP Paribas, prior to moving into wealth management at UBS.

Mounir holds a PhD in Finance and Accounting from Imperial College London and is a chartered fellow at the chartered institute of finance and investment (CISI).

Juri Zuravljov

Juri has over 8 years of global investment banking experience. He joined from Credit Suisse's London office, where he advised corporate and financial sponsor clients on M&A and capital markets transactions in the Consumer, Retail, and Healthcare sectors. Previously, he worked at Rabobank in New York and Amsterdam, solely focusing on advising clients on M&A transactions.

 

Prior to his investment banking career, Juri worked at Associated British Foods (owner of brands such as Primark, Twinings tea, Jordans cereal) in their strategy team. There, he worked on corporate strategy development, M&A transactions, and the formation of joint ventures. Passionate about social impact, Juri provided in-field pro-bono consulting work in Ghana for the German international development agency, GIZ, under the 'Affordable Nutritious Food for Women' project.

 

Juri holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MSc in Banking and Finance from Queen Mary, University of London.

Minnie Amor

Minnie Amor

Minnie joined Aurea in 2024 as an Investment Associate from Barclays where she started her career. At Barclays she was a Banking Associate covering the consumer and retail space within the Investment Banking division.  She graduated from the University of Bristol in June 2020 with a BSc in Philosophy and Economics.
